Sunshine Coast Street Angels, supported by Community Solutions Inc., is a volunteer based public safety service for individuals in need. The needs of these individuals may be the result of homelessness in its various forms, intoxication, substance abuse and/or any other issue, which has caused personal distress or has the potential to cause physical harm to themselves or others.

Sunshine Coast Street Angels believes that people in need, particularly young people, require non-judgemental care. Street Angels also acknowledges and respects the personal contribution of our volunteers.

Street Angels utilises trained and skilled Team Leaders with experienced volunteers to increase safety and reduce the inherent risks to residents and visitors to Mooloolaba during the hours of 9:30pm-1:30am on Friday and Saturday nights. This is achieved by identifying key areas of crime and public safety concerns and reporting to relevant stakeholders including the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and Queensland Police Service.

Street Angels teams can also be seen at numerous community events, including monthly Caloundra Blue Light discos, youth and all-ages dance parties, Schoolies Week, Mooloolaba’s New Years Eve celebration and Corbould Park race days such as Melbourne Cup.

In addition to non-judgemental care, support and understanding, the service offers basic refreshments where appropriate; as well as first aid and referral to appropriate services including Police, Security, medical, transport, counselling and accommodation facilities and personnel, where applicable.

The service also collects and collates data that will assist to identify specific community needs and issues and inform the delivery of current and future services.

Sunshine Coast Street Angels provides an opportunity for individuals, government, council, media, business and community groups to cooperatively combine their resources and commitment to support individuals in need.

Street Angels is not a security service. Street Angels will report incidents to Queensland Police with relevant information to allow them to attend the incident within minimal time. Emergency situations should be directly called to 000.

Street Angels is not aligned with any religious or church based organisations.
