Street Angels, supported by Community Solutions Inc., is a volunteer based public safety service for individuals in need. The needs of these individuals may be the result of homelessness in its various forms, intoxication, substance abuse and/or any other issue, which has caused personal distress or has the potential to cause physical harm to themselves or others.
Street Angels believes that people in need, particularly young people, require non-judgmental care. Street Angels also acknowledges and respects the personal contribution of our volunteers.
Street Angels operates shifts in the Mooloolaba Esplanade precinct on Friday and Saturday nights. Street Angels teams can also be seen at numerous community events such as youth and all-ages dance parties, Schoolies Week, Mooloolaba New Years Eve celebration and Corbould Park race days including Melbourne Cup.
In addition to non-judgmental care, support and understanding, the service offers basic refreshments where appropriate, as well as first aid and referral to appropriate services including police, security, medical, transport, counselling, accommodation facilities and personnel, where applicable.
The service also collects and collates data that will assist to identify specific community needs and issues and inform the delivery of current and future services.
Street Angels provides an opportunity for individuals, government, council, media, business and community groups to cooperatively combine their resources and commitment to support individuals in need.
