Awards

The Sunshine Coast Street Angels have been extensively recognised for the professional management of volunteers, best practice methods of operation, innovation and positive impact on the community:

  • A State and Regional winner at the Queensland Premier’s International Year of Volunteers 2001 State awards.
  • Recipient of the National Australia Bank Community Link Queensland State Award 2000 and 2002 (Community Services Category) recognising excellence in Volunteer Program Coordination.
  • Receipt of the Benjamin Award, 2000, (Queensland Health) in conjunction with other key stakeholders of the Mooloolaba Streetsafe Program, which recognises excellence in drug and alcohol intervention programs.
  • Shay Zulpo, the inaugural Manager and past Board Member of Community Solutions Inc, was awarded an Australia Day Medal in 2001, by the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia. Shay was the recipient of one of only 5 Australia Day Medals awarded nationally, to unsung heroes working in the alcohol and other drugs sector. In addition, Shay was recognised in the 2001 Australia Day Awards in the Fisher electorate for her commitment to community service.
